Cynthia Brandwijk (born 1985), raised in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands. After 20 years of working as a photographer, I was forced to stop following a car accident that left me permanently injured. What followed was a search for a new medium to express myself artistically.
Plaster was the answer.
Through 3D mixed media with plaster and upcycled materials, I found a new way to work with my greatest source of inspiration: light.
Intuitive painting is an important part of my process. Without a predetermined plan, I allow myself to be guided by feeling, material, and light, with each work emerging spontaneously.
In my work, I strive to create serenity, seeking balance but also mystery in its simplicity. Each piece thus acquires its own character and presence, especially when it is touched by light. The work changes with the day, along with the light.
